About Me

I'm Ursi.  I am an old-fashioned girl, a dreamer, and an incurable nerd.  I love reading (especially the Inklings, Jane Austen, and Mark Twain), writing, old movies (and new movies, if they're well done), singing (especially opera), listening to music, acting, dancing, photography, designing and sewing costumes, studying languages, baking, and riding my bike.  I graduated from a small liberal arts college in 2016.  (Attending that college was one of the best experiences of my life.)

My dream career is to be a novelist.  So far, I have two or three first drafts, about half a dozen half-finished first drafts, and about fifty first pages.  The actual novel has yet to appear, but I keep on hoping that this next attempt will be the one that does it!

I previously blogged over at https://inkwellsandinklings.wordpress.com/ , but I could never seem to write with any regularity.  After getting frustrated with myself about it, I decided there were a couple reasons why I wasn't writing much: 1) The Wordpress format bugged me.  I could never figure out how to make my blog look the way I wanted, and trying to change any settings was a major headache. 2) The focus of the blog was too narrow.  I was only posting about books and writing, and for some reason I was always horribly unmotivated to post on either of those topics.

So I decided to start a new blog, this one on Blogger, and post on a variety of topics (hence the title, "Of Cabbages and Kings"--thanks, Lewis Carroll!) Since books and writing are still pretty much my two favorite things, I foresee a lot of them on here.  But I also plan on writing about whatever else strikes my fancy...the Catholic Faith, traveling, period dramas, maybe sewing...and hopefully this way I'll be motivated to write something!  And I hope you enjoy reading it!
